The next three installments of Call of Duty will be available on PlayStation

The creators of the Call of Duty game claim that the game will indeed be available on PlayStation. Indeed, Microsoft had bought Activision Blizzard for a figure of 69 billion dollars. As a result, Xbox gets its hands on licenses like Call of Duty, Candy Crush, and Warcraft. The video game industry is therefore in turmoil in fear that Microsoft will obtain the exclusivity of these licenses.

Nevertheless, the boss of Xbox reassured the players of PlayStation by declaring that they will respect the agreements made between Activision and Sony. Users still remain skeptical regarding the duration of this agreement. So far, only the three installments of the game that have been confirmed are available on Playstation.

Call of Duty will remain available on Playstation

According to Bloomberg, three Call of Duty games will soon land on Xbox but also on Playstation. This announcement was made a week before the takeover by Microsoft. PS4 and PS5 users will be able to take full advantage of the license until the end of 2023. By the end of the year, Call of Duty Modern Warfare should also land on the PlayStation. And in 2023, it should offer Call of Duty Warzone 2 as well as the new Black Ops saga.

Still, rumors claim that the Call of Duty series won’t be released every year. This therefore implies that the next installments will only arrive around 2025 or 2026. By then, it is possible that the agreements between Sony and Activision will end and Microsoft might release its FPS license elsewhere than on its media. The director of Xbox says that the release of games will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The fate of Call of Duty remains uncertain

Call of Duty will be spared from this license monopolization, because the director claims to want to respect the agreements made with Sony. But the fate of the Call of Duty series is yet to be decided as, according to The Verge, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision isn’t expected to close until Microsoft’s 2023 fiscal year. For information, this exercise will start on 1is July 2022 and will end on June 30, 2023. However, even if the acquisition is almost completed, no one knows whether or not Microsoft will extend its contract with Call of Duty.
