How will it work?

More privacy?
In my opinion, I believe this feature to be highly beneficial. Users often save contacts in their phonebook when they receive calls from unknown phone numbers so that they can identify them by checking their WhatsApp profile pictures, but they may forget to remove these contacts later. Also, saving an unknown contact may allow them to see your profile picture: searching for the phone number without saving it in the contact list might be considered an additional measure of privacy and it definitely represents a significant step forward in improving the messaging user experience.
