As you know, Criterion is developing a new installment of Need For Speed, which is set to debut at some point this year and is supposedly it will only be released for the new generation of hardware. Although its developers have not yet given official details, another leak indicates that this game will have anime elements.
In accordance with Jeff Grubb, insider and reporter VentureBeat, Need For Speed 2022 will combine an anime aesthetic with photorealistic graphics. The game will be set in Lakeshore City, a fictional version of Chicagoand this was what he commented Grubb About your graphs:
“It will be photorealistic graphics, but in addition, it will also have anime elements. When you see a commercial for a car or something like that, and the car is moving, you will see anime flames and lightning. That’s the kind of aesthetic they’re looking for. And I think that’s what they mean when they say they want to make a fictional version of Chicago. It will be called Lakeshore City.”
If all goes well, this new Need for Speed It should arrive around November of this year, but like all the details we have regarding this game, this too is just speculation and we still don’t know when its official release date will be.
Publisher’s note: It is certainly a rather strange decision on the part of Criterion, but they are definitely looking to give a touch of freshness to the series. Obviously we still can’t say if it worked or not, but at the end of the day it will all depend on its execution.
