Change is on the horizon for Intel. The brand is said to be regarding to rename its line of processors, a first in 15 years, and is working on a new, highly advanced manufacturing process. While waiting for these major changes, engineers are working on Raptor Lake Refresh, the 14th generation of Intel Core processor which should logically succeed the Raptor Lake of 2022.

The cap of 6 GHz exceeded?

According to the chain Moore’s Law is Dead, the 14th generation of Intel Core processor would be historic. Indeed, processors for Raptor Lake Refresh desktop PCs would be able to reach a record frequency of 6.2 to 6.5 gigahertz. Gone are the days when Intel found itself at an impasse with the increase in frequency of its Pentium 4.

As a reminder, the Raptor Lake range of 2022 went up to 5.8 GHz. If we’re talking regarding records here, it’s because we’re talking regarding commercial processors and not overclocking contests. In addition, there is talk of a processor that will most likely have to be able to be air-cooled.

The launch would be scheduled for the start of the school year, in the 3rd quarter of the year, and the processors would still be compatible with socket 1700. In other words, Intel would keep the same platform for the 3rd consecutive generation. An inspiration from AMD’s good practices in this area that we can salute. Intel has rather accustomed us in the past to forcing a change of motherboard.

The new range of processors would be quite wide with an offer starting from 35W processors and going up to 125W CPUs.

See you at the end of the year to see a better overview of what Intel can offer.
