The next departure from LASK is fixed

The potential is great, but the fitness level at LASK was never able to keep up with it: Ebrima Darboe is leaving the athletes, as reported, following only eight competitive appearances in the fall. The loan contract with AS Roma, which actually ran until the summer, was terminated prematurely.

“We decided together to end Ebrima Darboe’s loan early and found a good solution for both sides,” explained LASK sports director Radovan Vujanovic. Darboe was immediately loaned out by AS Roma to second division club Sampdoria Genoa.

Darboe was never really able to gain a foothold in Linz. When he was signed in the summer, it was clear that the 22-year-old would need time to get going following recovering from a torn cruciate ligament – but he never got really fit in the fall. Injuries kept slowing him down on the way back, he wasn’t in top shape during his missions and therefore mightn’t convince.

Learn from Pirlo

Darboe also missed the preparation for the spring – because he was preparing for the current Africa Cup of Nations with Gambia’s national team. For Gambia he was over following three defeats in the group stage, Darboe played in the first two games. When we returned to Linz it was just a matter of terminating the contract.

With Sampdoria Genoa it is now regarding staying in the second division. Darboe meets a very prominent name as a coach: Andrea Pirlo.
