Toyota may launch sales of a new generation of the Land Cruiser Prado SUV earlier than originally thought. At least this is what the Japanese media write regarding, owning insider information from the camp of the automaker.
It was believed that the new Prado would have to wait until at least the beginning of 2024. However, if you believe the information of the BestCarWeb portal, the appearance of this SUV on the roads may occur as early as the end of this year.
If this information turns out to be correct, then the premiere of the car will take place closer to winter (presumably in November).
According to recent rumors, the SUV will increase in size, adding 75mm in length, 35mm in width and 50mm in height. Thus, its dimensions will be equal: 4900/1920/1900 mm, respectively.
What the car will look like is still unknown, but independent designers are already building their own theories. One of the options for the exterior of the new Prado was painted by artist Andrew Guerrero from the Philippine portal Top Gear.
In the renderings, the Japanese all-terrain vehicle appeared in the GR Sport version, in which its older relative Land Cruiser 300 had previously appeared. At the same time, the car borrowed many exterior elements from the recently introduced updated Lexus GX.
Given the technical relationship between the Prado and the modernized Lexus, under the hood of the Toyota bestseller, one can expect the same engines to appear as in the case of the new GX. This is a 2.4-liter turbo-hybrid, as well as a 3.5-liter V6 with a double “supercharge”. Whether the Prado will retain the diesel version is still unknown.
