The readjustment of tolls on the Egnatia Road took place, with increases of up to 30% on average. This move comes ahead of the signing of the highway concession contract to the GEK TERNA – EGIS consortium.
In particular, the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMA) of the Ministers of National Economy & Finance and Infrastructure & Transport was published, for the “Adjustment of tolls in Egnatia Street and on the vertical axes (a) A/C Siatistas to the Border Station of Krystallopigi, (b) A/C Lagada/Serron to the Border Station Promachona, (c) A/C Chalastras to the Border Station Evzones”.
This pending was a key prerequisite for the signing of the 35-year concession agreement. The next step is the ratification of the contract by the Parliament.
The joint venture GEK TERNA – Egis will undertake the maintenance and operation of the 658 km long road axis, as well as the 3 vertical road axes with a total length of 225 km, which are connections of the Egnatia Road with the neighboring countries (Albania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria) .
In par. 5 of article 2 of the joint decision of the Ministers of Finance and Infrastructure and Transport (B’ 2018) under data DNSb/oik27840/ΤΟ393/13.05.2020, it is stated that before the signing of the concession agreement, the toll fees of Annex III will be adjusted , we decide:
1. The amendment of the joint decision of the Ministers of Finance and Infrastructure and Transport under data DNSb/ok.27840/ΦN393/13-5-2020 as follows:
According to the newsit, Annex III of the joint decision of the Ministers of Finance and Infrastructure and Transport under data DNSb/ok.27840/ΦΤ393/13-5-2020 “Definition of the toll charging system on Egnatia Road and on the vertical axes (a) A /K Siatistas to the Border Station of Krystallopigi, (b) A/K Lagada/Serron to the Border Station of Promachona, (c) A/K Chalastras to the Border Station of Evzones – Relocation of Toll Stations” (B’ 2018), is replaced as follows :
2. From the entry into force of the present, any other provision that contradicts the present is repealed.
3. The validity of this decision begins from its publication in the Government Gazette.
