The massacre, claimed by ISIS, has plunged everyone back into the nightmare of terrorism. Vladimir Putin admitted “the Islamist matrix” of the attack, but also insisted on Kiev’s alleged responsibility. Now it seems that the four attackers, who were arrested following the brutal acts, fled the scene of the massacre due to a sudden malfunction of their weapons.

ISIS said so. “The sudden malfunction of the weapons forced them to quickly leave the location, starting a grueling search operation involving ground and air forces,” the Islamic State weekly Al-Naba reported in an editorial. The four jihadists were located in a forest while they were trying to escape: three had received orders to shoot directly at those present in the party room with their machine guns, while the fourth had been “instructed to set fire to the structure with bombs and incendiary materials” in order to “hinder any rescue operation”, writes Al-Naba.

Meanwhile, it seems that nine residents of a suburb of Dushanbe, Tajikistan, have been arrested due to “contacts” they had with the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall. A source from Tajikistan’s special services told Ria Novosti. “Nine residents of Vakhdat district were arrested for contacts with the people who committed the terrorist attack on the Crocus town hall on March 22,” the source told the Russian news agency. The detainees are also suspected of having contacts with the Islamic State.
