Oh, not in vain in the last statements Mazda, concerning the family of large models (Large Product Group), there was no mention of sedans and, in general, any cars. Only crossovers got into the new family of cars with a classic layout (with a longitudinal engine). And what regarding the rear-wheel drive Mazda 6 of the next generation, rumors regarding which went the last couple of years? Alas, there will be no such sedan. This has been confirmed in the European and Australian divisions of Mazda: the market for sedans has been declining for many years, while the demand for crossovers is growing, which is why they are given preference.
The first SUV from the Large Product Group family has already been presented: Mazda CX-60 in addition, it became the brand’s first rechargeable hybrid, and later versions with in-line six-cylinder engines will appear. The larger Mazda CX-80 with three rows of seats will follow, while the similar models CX-70 and CX-90 are being prepared for America.
Rear-wheel drive Mazda 6 was definitely in the plans: a concept car Mazda Vision Coupe (pictured) sample of 2017 appeared for a reason. But now the future of the Mazda 6 is in question. The current third-generation model has been in production for ten years, and in addition to the sedan, there is a wagon for Europe in the range. So far, this “six” remains in service, but there is no information regarding the creation of a new model even on the previous front-wheel drive platform.
