[EN VIDÉO] Shouldn’t Try: a car in full quantum levitation For this fourth episode of Shouldn’t Try broadcast on Discovery Science, Kevin and Grant…
The new Peugeot e-3008 sports a design that skilfully combines sporty looks and efficiency. It is inspired by the new design common to the entire range. With these electric engines developing between 210 and 320 horsepower, it is up to the challenge of facing a very active market in this segment. Peugeot offers it a major advantage: a range of up to 700 kilometers. You’ll have to wait until next year to get behind the wheel.
The SUV coupe according to Peugeot
Its fastback SUV silhouette combines elegance, aerodynamics and habitability. Despite its compact dimensions (length: 4.54 meters; width: 1.89 meters; height: 1.64 meters), the vehicle offers generous habitability and a trunk volume identical to that of its predecessor (520 liters).
The front of Peugeot’s new SUV features a redesigned grille that reflects the model’s electric identity, accompanied by LED headlights. The front is dominated by the new Peugeot emblem, incorporating the brand’s distinctive light signature. LED headlights are available on all versions, while the top-of-the-range version benefits from Peugeot’s Pixel LED technology, which automatically adapts to driving conditions.
E-motion: the i-Cockpit® reinvented
The interior of the Peugeot e-3008 is marked by the new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit, which incorporates a 21-inch curved HD panoramic screen. This single panel brings together the head-up instrument panel and the central touch screen. This layout is supposed to offer optimal ergonomics for the driver and passenger. The central console is refined, promoting space and comfort.
The compact steering wheel, a habit at Peugeot, has been redesigned to offer a better driving sensation, with new ergonomic controls. The front seats, available in different configurations, offer exceptional comfort, with the possibility of adding adaptive side supports.
The new electric SUV is equipped with the AQS system (Air Quality System) to maintain a healthy indoor atmosphere. As an option, the Clean Cabin offers advanced air treatment, with air quality displayed on the panoramic screen.
The e-3008 chassis should provide a dynamic driving experience, with an innovative platform that maximizes the use of light and rigid materials while lowering the center of gravity thanks to the battery placed under the floor.
Power and autonomy: the qualities of the Peugeot e-3008
Stellantis’ new STLA Medium electric platform, used for the first time by the Peugeot E-3008, sets new standards in performance, efficiency and autonomy. The vehicle offers three electric engines meeting the varied needs of customers.
210 hp – 2-wheel drive – range 525 kilometers (73 kWh battery); 320 hp – 4-wheel drive – range 525 kilometers (73 kWh battery); 230 hp – 2-wheel drive – range 700 kilometers (98 kWh battery).
The 400-volt lithium-ion (NMC) high-voltage battery is placed under the floor to optimize interior space. Battery thermal management enables ultra-fast charging and preserves battery life. This is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 kilometers (for at least 70% of its capacity).
The e-3008 is equipped with a fast charging system accepting up to 160 kW of direct current, allowing a recharge of 20 to 80% in less than 30 minutes. It integrates an 11 kW three-phase charger (22 kW optional).
The vehicle offers advanced electrical features, such as the function Smart Charging (V1G) to optimize charging costs according to the load of the local electricity network, and the function Vehicle to Load (V2L) to power electrical devices via the vehicle battery.
The new Peugeot SUV is also equipped with a wide range of driver assistance systems, including the Drive Assist Plus, which allows semi-autonomous driving on the highway thanks to a set of cameras and radars. This assistant can also suggest reducing the speed from 130 to 110 km/h if rain is detected.
The new Peugeot 3008 will also be available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The long version, the Peugeot 5008, should be presented in 2024 when the 3008 SUV is marketed. The only unknown: the price of its new electric SUVs has not yet been communicated. Good news however, the vehicle will be entirely made in France, in Sochaux.
