The new center at the LINZ AG harbor as a unique urban meeting place for the public as well as business and industry is regarding to open.
Linz (OTS) – In recent years, LINZ AG has regularly provided information regarding the status of economic and urban development – namely “Project Neuland” – in the port of Linz. LINZ AG’s central structural measures have now been completed. The goal of creating a center in the harbor as an urban meeting place for leisure, the public, trade and industry has been achieved.
Today, on September 20, 2023, the official presentation took place at 11 a.m. in the presence of Mayor Klaus Luger, LINZ AG General Director DI Erich Haider, MBA, Port Director Mag. Harald Kronsteiner, MBA and DONAULAGER LOGISTICS Managing Director Gottfried Buchinger, MBA Linz Harbor Park. The new, 3,600 m2 leisure area is located on a roof area of the new freezer and pharmaceutical hall in the LINZ AG HAFEN and is now one of the highlights of, alongside the hall itself, a viewing tower, the expansion of the container terminal and the modernization of the “Linz Stadthafen marshalling yard”. “Project Neuland” in the harbor.
Mayor Klaus Luger says: “With the harbor park on the roof of the new freezer and pharmaceutical hall and the observation tower at harbor basin 2, it is possible for a company premises and a publicly accessible area in the immediate vicinity of the water to be in the same place at the same time – on two separate levels condition. This dual use is unique in Europe and gives the port a distinctive character. With the investments made, LINZ AG completely renovated the port and created the new port city – a lively, urban meeting place for the public, leisure, commerce and industry. A particular added value lies in the fact that part of LINZ AG’s economic success is given back to the citizens through this port city. This clearly shows the responsibility of this public company.”
LINZ AG General Director DI Erich Haider: “The opening in Linz Harbor Park is a significant milestone in the history of LINZ AG. The ‘Neuland Project’ not only makes a significant contribution to urban development, but is also one of the group’s largest investments as a contribution to securing Linz as a business location and beyond. Today’s opening in the Linz Harbor Park is a clear commitment to the company location and the “Linz Harbor” district and combines industry and commerce with the public and leisure in an identity-forming way.
Major investment: 116 million euros – cost plan was adhered to
LINZ AG is investing a total of 116 million euros in the implementation of “Project Neuland” – expansion of the port towards logistics and services, the urban development of the district and the creation of space for public use. Despite the corona pandemic and the general crisis situation in recent years, LINZ AG has managed to stick to its cost plan.
