Apple’s latest update is here. The North American company presented the version of its iOS 17.4 operating system in January. This includes various changes: in addition to correcting errors discovered in previous editions, it has incorporated new very interesting functions on a daily basis. One of the most notable is the new anti-theft function, which can now be activated on all iPhone phones.

The update expands the security of these mobile phones once morest possible theft or loss of the device. The objective of this change is to prevent thieves from deactivating key functions to locate our phone if it is lost. They thus correct a security gap that users had previously pointed out.

The current version improves device protection, both within familiar and common locations and in strange ones.

iPhone users have long been able to use the ‘Find My iPhone’ feature, which allowed them to locate their phone when it was lost or stolen. To change this aspect of the mobile in the settings, it was necessary to enter a security code or use ‘Face ID’ facial recognition. But this was only requested if the phone was outside our known locations, such as our home, school, or work.

This was a problem, since many of the thefts occurred in these common places for Apple users. Thus, thieves just had to open the settings and deactivate this function so that no trace of the phone was left. This also happened with other aspects, such as access to passwords and other sensitive data.

The programmers have realized this malfunction and have decided to remedy it. From now on, those who have an Apple-branded phone will be able to ask the device to always request Face ID to access key mobile functions. Among them is “Find my iPhone”. With this new anti-theft protection system, another obstacle is placed once morest people who want to illegally obtain our mobile phones and private information.

Those interested in this feature will want to know how to activate it and add another layer of protection to their devices. Those who wish to activate it simply have to go to their iPhone settings and locate the “Face ID and Code” category among the multiple configuration options. Inside, you can find the option “Protection in case of device theft” and you can activate it with a simple click.

Once turned on, Apple users will be able to choose whether they want to activate the security timeout in all locations or only in those that are not known. This wait prevents you from quickly changing security settings. If you want to get the greatest possible protection, you can choose “Always” from the options, but keep in mind that you will have to wait a reasonable amount of time each time you want to modify your phone’s security settings.
