The first season of “Halo” did not go down well with all gamers. But the continuation seems to convince both new and old fans of the sci-fi series!
Many television critics found the first season of “Halo,” an adaptation of the popular sci-fi game, to be a perfectly fine and good-looking sci-fi venture. A genre that doesn’t usually get anywhere near the budget needed to realize the true visions of its television creators. But Paramount+ (now SkyShowtime) still seemed to hope that the fact that “Halo” already had millions of fans worldwide would make it worth spending a little extra.
But as soon as it was revealed that the main character Master Chief, played by Pablo Schreiber, would take off his helmet in the TV series (which never happened in the video games), many gamers began to question whether the series they had been looking forward to might really live up to expectations. And unfortunately, many (especially gamers) saw “Halo” when the series came out.
I myself, who had never played a second of the game, however, was amused by being able to take part in a completely new and developed sci-fi world for the first time. Luckily, enough other new fans thought the same, because now we’ve got a second season! And this time, listen and be amazed, TV critics, gamers and new fans alike seem to really like the direction of the series’ continuation.
The new season picks up shortly following the second one ended. Master Chief and his crew have all taken out what made them unable to feel any emotions, which means we still get to see them rediscover parts of themselves that we haven’t seen before. But we also get to see more ambitious action scenes (in the best possible sci-fi way) when the war once morest the Covenant begins to reap more and more human victims.
Here’s what the critics and viewers think regarding the new “Halo” premiere:
At the time of writing, the new season has garnered a whopping 93% positive reviews from TV critics and 80% positive reviews from regular viewers (which is a big difference from the first season’s low 52%). From what we’ve seen so far, I’m willing to agree. Sci-fi is still offered at a higher level than many other places… if it lives up to the game series, I can’t comment on that.
And if you’re going to listen to the viewers who watched today’s two new episodes, there’s no doubt that the new season at least deserves to be given a chance, even if you weren’t a fan of the first one:
“Much better than Season 1 so far, feels more like what Halo should be. 100% worth a second chance if you didn’t like Season 1”
“Awesome series with lots of action, it feels like you’ve stepped right into the game.”
“I absolutely LOVE season 2!!! I NEED more episodes!!! It has my favorite actor as James Ackerson played by Joseph Morgan. I am impressed with his performance as James Ackerson!!! I love that the character is not afraid to be the villain but privately he cares regarding what’s going on with the world. His performance flows perfectly with the other characters and I HIGHLY recommend watching it!!!!”
The However, it is not possible to convince everyone gamers that the “Halo” franchise is here to stay:
“Marginally better than Season 1 but still has most of the same problems. It’s just not Halo.”
The first two episodes of the second season of “Halo” are now available on SkyShowtime. The new season will consist of a total of eight new episodes, with a new release every Friday.
