The instant messaging platform WhatsApp presented some improvements in its calls and video calls function to better connect with family, friends and communities.
In this package of new updates are:
– Video calls with 32 people: As with calls, now you can make video calls on your cell phone with up to 32 people. That means four times as many people as before.
– Send messages or mute call participants: Long-pressing on a participant will expand the video or audio feed and allow you to mute or message that person separately without exiting the call.
– Call links: Whether you’re making a last-minute call or planning a call ahead, from now on you’ll have the ability to easily invite people to a group call by sharing a call link.
Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, also announced through a statement that The application will have the following changes in its design:
– Colorful waveforms: Now it will be seen who is speaking if the camera is deactivated.
– In-call banner notifications: Lets you know when someone new joins a group call.
– Image on iOS: It is being tested in beta version to be implemented next year. Thanks to a minimized in-call video screen, users will now be able to multitask during communication.
Finally, the company recalled that “as always, all calls on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted by default” to protect the privacy and security of the millions of users who use this platform.
