Elected with a score of 90.24% of the votes as president of the Superior Council of Islamic Affairs of Gabon (CSAIG), imam Benyamin Andjoua Obolo who beat his opponent Abdul Razzak Kambongo (9.76%) during the 5th congress of the religious institution on March 16 at the Central Mosque of Libreville, in his speech upon taking office on March 17, delivered a unifying speech to bring peace to this community in crisis.
Below is an extract from the new president of the CSAIG, Imam Benyamin Andjoua Obolo following his installation:
“Our brothers who managed the Islamic council yesterday are not our enemies, they are our brothers. Allah said: the believers are only brothers, they are our brothers. It is true that the devil has entered between us today, through passions to sow discord between us, but this must be done with mutual respect. Our differences of approach must be done in mutual respect, in love, in fraternity, in the middle ground, without exaggeration while respecting the honor of your Muslim brother.
We are convinced in particular that we have carried out work during this congress, in particular the truth and reconciliation commission with the participation of imams and elders of the community, inch’Allah we will reconcile. We are convinced that Allah will help us, that Allah will support us
And as we are in the blessed month of Ramadan, an opportunity to invoke Allah, to ask our Lord to unite our hearts and help us to eradicate from our hearts jealousy, hatred, covetousness and everything that contributes to the division between us. We are brothers. Allah has united us through the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad Salla Allah Alayhi wa Salam. We will continue the dialogue. We will continue to meet our brothers, to discuss with our brothers.”
