Pregnancy and the arrival of a baby bring their share of joys and questions. What are the risks associated with using cannabis or alcohol during pregnancy? When do I need to see a doctor for my child? What to do with a fever in a newborn? How to create a safe environment for the child? An essential reference for Quebec families for over 40 years, the guide provides answers and practical advice for parents.
More than 120,000 copies of the guide will be distributed to families who are expecting a baby or who are in the process of adoption. The Web version is also very popular, with nearly 5 million page views annually.
2023 edition
Guide Living better with our child from pregnancy to two years old is updated each year to reflect changes in practices and scientific knowledge. Written with the collaboration of paediatricians, doctors, nurses, other health professionals and parents, it presents clear, scientifically validated information adapted to the Quebec reality.
Several changes have been made to the 2023 edition.
A full section update Health was completed following a two-year review. The section now includes more practical advice to support parents when their child is sick or in need of care. It also includes various recommendations for creating a safe environment for children, as well as updated information on the transmission of infections.
Information on COVID-19 has also been updated to reflect the latest knowledge.
In addition, the recommendations on the treatment of various problems related to breastfeeding have been revised in light of the most recent guidelines.
The 2023 edition of the guide Living better with our child from pregnancy to two years old is available in French and English.
