The name of the new Defender OCTA comes from the strongest and most desirable mineral on earth – diamond. The octahedron shape gives them a unique look and durability. Graphics inspired by this shape define the Defender OCTA as the ultimate model – tough and durable, yet striking, rare and desirable.

The rugged luxury of the Defender OCTA is epitomized by the Defender OCTA Edition One, available in its first year of production. It features an exclusive specification, a new Faroe Green colour, an Ultrafabrics™ PU interior in teal and black alder, new Chopped Carbon Fiber details and 20-inch forged alloy wheels with off-road tyres.

Performance

The new Defender OCTA surprises with unprecedented performance. This is the most powerful and extreme Defender model ever. It is equipped with a 635 hp 4.4-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers and a mild hybrid system. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with both standard and overdrive gears. Advanced hydraulically interconnected variable-action semi-active damper technology virtually eliminates body roll and road sway, while the 6D Dynamics suspension system also contributes to the Defender’s exceptional comfort and refinement.

The new Defender OCTA can automatically detect the surface being driven on and optimize the dynamic settings accordingly. All the capabilities of the model are revealed by improved driving modes. In addition to the default Comfort mode, there is a Dynamic driving option that allows you to enjoy maximum performance while driving, and the car’s steering, throttle and suspension options can be adjusted at the touch of a button on the steering wheel.

A long press of the same button activates OCTA mode, the Defender’s first dedicated off-road mode. Thanks to it, the car will work perfectly in any conditions. This mode has been developed to maximize handling and boost driver confidence. The off-road start mode enabled by the OCTA option provides optimal acceleration on uneven surfaces. When the lowest stability control parameters are selected, the unique off-road ABS calibration is activated, so the car will brake optimally even on soft surfaces.

For more technical off-road maneuvers, the driver can use the Terrain Response set of driving modes familiar to Defender owners, which includes special calibrations of the car for driving on sand, mud and ditches, grass, gravel, snow and rocky surfaces. The car is also equipped with driver assistance systems such as ClearSight Ground View, which gives the driver a clear view of the underside of the car for better off-road visibility.

Expressive exterior

The striking character of the Defender OCTA informs its bold new image. The SUV is offered with 33-inch tires, the largest ever fitted to a production Defender model. Goodyear Advanced All-Terrain tires of this size have been specially developed for the OCTA model. This required larger wheel arches. They complement the off-road front end with a uniquely designed grill that enhances airflow under the hood. The Faroe Green color and Chopped Carbon Fiber are available only on the Defender OCTA Edition One model. Composed of recycled materials, this highly distinctive finish adorns the Defender’s bonnet, side and bonnet air vent surrounds, as well as the front seatbacks and interior center console.

The Body and Soul Seat sound system was developed in collaboration with music industry experts SUBPAC and Coventry University, so the driver and front passenger can not only hear, but also feel the music.
