Performance

The new Defender OCTA surprises with unprecedented performance. This is the most powerful and extreme Defender model ever. It is equipped with a 635 hp 4.4-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers and a mild hybrid system. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with both standard and overdrive gears. With 22-inch rims and off-road tires, the new Defender OCTA can reach speeds of up to 250 km/h. reaching speed.

Thanks to the torque of 750 Nm (up to 800 Nm if the Dynamic Launch Mode launch control is activated), the car can be easily controlled when moving on various surfaces. It also allows 100 km/h. acceleration in 4 seconds, and maximum torque is available from just 1,800 to almost 6,000 rpm.

Incredible capabilities and durability

The Defender OCTA surpasses previous Defender models in terms of dynamic capabilities: the new model features the hydraulically linked 6D Dynamics suspension technology for the first time, as well as fundamentally changed hardware and geometry.

The ground clearance of this model has been increased by 28 mm, and its wheelbase has been widened by 68 mm. To give the driver complete confidence and control when driving on any surface, as well as to ensure maximum adaptation of the wheels off-road and less sway on the road, the suspension components have been improved: longer and stronger arms and unique active shock absorbers with separate accumulators have been installed. The model also features 400mm front brake discs with Brembo calipers and the fastest steering gear yet. This ensures a sharp and precise reaction of the car.

“Our seasoned experts have done the impossible: for the past three years, they’ve worked tirelessly to create the most capable Defender ever, no matter what surface it’s enjoyed on. They’ve redesigned the entire car’s components to make the Defender OCTA the perfect companion for epic adventures anywhere on the planet,” said Jamal Hameedi, Director of Special Vehicle Operations, Jaguar Land Rover.

Advanced hydraulically interconnected variable-action semi-active damper technology virtually eliminates body roll and road sway, while the 6D Dynamics suspension system also contributes to the Defender’s exceptional comfort and refinement.

The new Defender OCTA can automatically detect the surface being driven on and optimize the dynamic settings accordingly. All the capabilities of the model are revealed by improved driving modes. In addition to the default Comfort mode, there is a Dynamic driving option that allows you to enjoy maximum performance while driving, and the car’s steering, throttle and suspension options can be adjusted at the touch of a button on the steering wheel.

A long press of the same button activates OCTA mode, the Defender’s first dedicated off-road mode. Thanks to it, the car will work perfectly in any conditions. This mode has been developed to maximize handling and boost driver confidence. The off-road start mode enabled by the OCTA option provides optimal acceleration on uneven surfaces. When the lowest stability control parameters are selected, the unique off-road ABS calibration is activated, so the car will brake optimally even on soft surfaces.
