The new boss continues to weaken the old power Chelsea and the meritorious Cech break up peacefully | Goal.com China

The former Blues goalkeeper is the latest from the Abramovich era to be vacated by Chelsea following the club’s takeover.

Chelsea have confirmed that Cech will leave the club’s technical and performance adviser role on June 30.

GOAL learned last week that the former Blues goalkeeper was in talks with Todd Poli and the club’s board, with Cech considering his future at Stamford Bridge.

The Czech has now decided to leave, becoming the latest to cut a clean slate with Chelsea as they usher in a new era. Previously, team chairman Bruce Barker and transfer director Marina Granovskaya had confirmed their departure.

Why did Cech leave Chelsea?

Cech, 40, who returned to Chelsea in June 2019 following announcing his retirement, responded to his decision on the club’s official website. “It has been a huge honour to be in this role at Chelsea for the past three years.”

“With the owner of the club changing hands, I feel that now is the perfect time for me to leave.”

“I am delighted to see that the club is doing well under the new owner and I have full confidence in the club’s future success on and off the field.”

Chelsea owner Paul Polly said: “Cech is an important member of the Chelsea family. We understand his decision to leave and thank him for his contribution as an adviser, to the club and to the community. We wish him all the best.”

Cech provided a lot of off-field advice at Chelsea and of course a lot of on-field standouts. Former boss Abramovich had a close personal relationship with Cech, and it was Abramovich who brought Cech to Chelsea.

Under Mourinho, Cech became an important member of the team, wearing the No. 1 jersey to guard the goal for 10 years. However, due to the arrival of Courtois, he gradually faded out of the main lineup, making a total of 494 appearances for the club.

During this period, Cech won 4 Premier League trophies and 4 FA Cups, in addition to 3 League Cups, 1 Champions League and 1 Europa League.
