The creators of the popular animated series “The Simpsons” took too much liberty with the image of Eastern Europe on the school map. Attentive viewers saw in it something that is obvious from the point of view of Russian laws, but denied by most countries of the world – the annexation of new territories.
In the episode titled “Game Done Changed” during the course of the story, Bart Simpson is talking to Principal Skinner in front of a world map taped to the wall.
If you stop the frame and take a closer look, it is obvious that with other rather detailed and plausible drawing of the main borders of the countries of Asia and Eastern Europe, the area in the Black Sea region and to the north of it is greatly distorted in relation to reality. So, Ukraine, marked in green, has greatly narrowed in size. At the same time, Russia on this cartoonish map borders on Romania and cuts off Ukraine from the Black Sea.
Moreover, if we estimate the landmarks, we can assume that the creators of The Simpsons attributed to the territory of the Russian Federation not only the four regions proclaimed this autumn, but also the entire left bank of the Dnieper, as well as the Nikolaev and Odessa regions. The episode aired on December 4, 2022.
Of course, it does not make sense to seriously consider such a “movie blunder” as a political statement. Nevertheless, fans of the series love to notice the peculiar prophecies in The Simpsons, sometimes, by an amazing coincidence, come true in reality. For example, billionaire Donald Trump appeared as the President of the United States 15 years before winning the election, the mass of the Higgs boson particle is indicated quite accurately 14 years before the evidence of its existence in the Large Hadron Collider, and 19 years before the first release of AppleWatch, The Simpsons is quite accurately depicted them on one of the heroes and showed how they would work.
The Simpsons first shows the principle of making cakes with photographs on the surface, long before real technology allowed it, predicted the Nobel Prize for Finnish economist Bengt Holström, foresaw the design of the first iPad. Predictions regarding a global epidemic of a virus that originated in Southeast Asia, regarding a terrorist attack on towers in New York and regarding attacks by American aircraft on Syrian government troops stand apart, which are on the verge of conspiracy theories.
