The Apple Watch Series 8 was officially presented to the general public on September 7, 2022. Finally, this new iteration does not mark a break with the previous one. However, some changes have been made. At Fnac, the Apple Watch Series 8 is 10% cheaper than before.

A screen that dazzles
The Apple Watch Series 8 currently on sale is Midnight with a blue strap and an aluminum case. The result is a shock-resistant connected watch. This model inherits the characteristic design of the Series range of the Cupertino company, i.e. a square frame (2 x 6 x 6 cm) and a circular dial (4.1 cm) for a weight of 32 grams. Of course, the rotating crown is part of it.
The screen is one of the biggest selling points of the Series 8. The latter has a Retina OLED LTPO panel which displays a resolution of 352 x 430 pixels. The result is very good quality luminosity even in direct sunlight, which makes it comfortable and pleasant to use. The screen borders have been thinned, enlarging the screen area a bit more.

Under watchOS 9, all the power of the Apple Watch Series 8 resides in the new Apple S8 chip which will sublimate the Apple W3 processor and the Apple U1. If the Apple W3 is 64-bit dual-core, the Apple U1 takes care of its compatibility with Ultra Wideband. The Apple Watch ecosystem is thus at your fingertips. In addition, all these technologies optimize all the sensors integrated in this version to the maximum.
There are eight gesture commands on the rotating crown of the connected watch. The monitoring of sports activities is effective thanks to various powerful sensors: GPS, altimeter, gyroscope, compass, etc. The same is true for health monitoring with an accelerometer diptych and an ever-performing optical heart rate sensor.
In energy saving mode, the Apple Watch Series 8 has a battery life of three days compared to 18 hours for conventional use. That said, the power saving mode disables the Always-on function which displays essential information with the screen off. The Apple brand announces a full recharge via a USB-C port in one hour. The connected watch is also MagSafe compatible.
