The Netherlands team defeated the US team 3-1 in the 1/8 final match of the World Cup in Qatar.

As part of the winners, goals were scored by Memphis Depay (10th minute), Daly Blind (45th + 1) and Denzel Dumfries (81st). The losers scored Haji Wright (76th).

The Netherlands have reached the round of 16 of the World Cup five of the last six times, including winning the last three round of 16 (2010, 2014 and 2022). The Netherlands are unbeaten in their last 11 matches at the World Cup (8 wins, 3 draws) – their record streak ever.

Memphis Depay has scored 15 goals in 17 games since Louis van Gaal took charge of the Netherlands in August 2021. With 43 goals, the Barcelona striker is second on the all-time top scorer list, only Robin van Persie has more (50).

Dumfries scored a goal and provided two assists, becoming the second defender since 1966 with 3+ assists in a World Cup game. Previously, only the Hungarian Jozsef Toth managed to do this in a match once morest El Salvador in 1982 (also a goal and two assists). In addition, Dumfries became the third Dutchman in history with 3+ assists in a World Cup match, following Rob Rensenbrink in 1978 and Johan Cruyff in 1974.
