The government of the Netherlands demanded on Monday, July 29, transparency in the electoral results in Venezuela, where the National Electoral Council (CNE) announced Nicolás Maduro as the winner with 51.2% of the votes, according to the first bulletin.

Caspar Veldkamp, ​​the nation’s foreign minister, said that “people came out in large numbers to vote” and that their “democratic will must be respected.”

“The Kingdom of the Netherlands is concerned by current developments and calls for full transparency in the electoral process and in the management of the results,” reads the Dutch diplomat’s post on X (Twitter).

International community demands review of the minutes

The governments of Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, ColombiaCosta Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, USA, PanamaParaguay, Peru, UruguaySpain, ItaliaPortugal, Germany y United Kingdom have questioned the transparency in the issuance of the results of the presidential elections in Venezuela.

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (UE) for Foreign Affairs, said on Monday that it is “vital” to ensure “total transparency” of the electoral process in Venezuela.

“It is vital to ensure the full transparency of the electoral process, including the detailed counting of votes and access to the voting records of the polling stations,” the Spanish politician wrote on his profile on the social network X.

Borrell added that the people of Venezuela “voted on the future of their country in a peaceful and massive manner,” and stressed that their will “must be respected.”

The Venezuelan government rejected the position of the international community

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil has responded and shared messages rejecting the version of questions about the results of the presidential elections in the country.

On July 29, Gil responded to Chilean President Gabriel Boric, claiming that he “does not need his recognition,” after the leftist leader questioned the results of the presidential election.

“Perhaps his incompetence is the reason he does not know that the children of (Simón) Bolívar and (Hugo) Chávez do not need his devalued recognition,” said the minister in X.

Gil also told Boric that in Venezuela, “fascism is defeated with votes and popular support,” and that the Caribbean country is “free from tutelage.”

“Deal with your problems! Here we won, we defended the victory and we celebrated like true revolutionaries,” added Gil, who responded with this message to a post by the Chilean president.

The Venezuelan foreign minister has only sent messages of gratitude to Cuba, Russia, Iran and international coalitions such as the Sao Paulo Forum.
