Carlos Gustavo Jiménez, nephew of the former mayor of Puerto de La Libertad, Miguel Ángel Jiménez Aguilera, was exonerated this Friday of the crime of resisting arrest, but he was immediately notified that he is being accused of the murder of his uncle and his wife, Kriscia de Jiménez, for which she will remain in prison.
Carlos Jiménez was presented this Friday before the Justice of the Peace of the Port of La Libertad to respond to the accusations of resistance, from which he came out well, although the Prosecutor’s Office required him for aggravated homicide that occurred on February 8 in Nuevo Cuscatlán.
Upon arrival at the hearing, the defendant said he was innocent of the crime of resistance and asked for justice. “I am innocent, I have been held for 17 days only for the crime of resistance and the same investigators say that I am a scapegoat in this case… what I need is for justice to be done in this case,” he said.
On the night of Wednesday, February 8, the PNC confirmed that they were investigating a double homicide inside a house in the Vía del Mar residential area, in Nuevo Cuscatlán, department of La Libertad. Some media claimed it was a femicide and a suicide.
The bodies were found by the exedil’s daughter, when she entered the house. The authorities captured Jiménez on the 15th of the same month, who, according to investigations, was the person of confidence of the former mayor and the person in charge of his finances.
