The necessary redesign of Apple’s best-selling computer

(Review) – I have been carrying a MacBook in my backpack for a while now. At the beginning of my university life, until now, when I occupy it in my day to day. Always she called my attention the versatility and speed with which they workand that have almost no bugs for the jobs you commonly did.

In recent weeks I have had the opportunity to test the new MacBook Air. A model that was presented at the last Apple WorldWide Developer Conference (or known by its acronym, WWDC). At that time he already surprised many by his slim design, bigger and brighter screena battery that lasts much longer and for integrating the second generation of Apple chips for computers: the mighty M2.

But now it’s my turn to shred the device. I have been using it intensely in my daily tasks such as doing audiovisual work in Adobe Premiere, having video calls by Zoom or FaceTime, editing graphics in Photoshop and, of course, writing articles for our website. Let’s take a closer look at it below.

Design: Light on the outside, powerful on the inside

A completely necessary redesign for Apple’s best-selling computer. From the first moment I was surprised that kept that thinness of the team, with which Steve Jobs delighted us in 2008, although today the edges are straight and the corners are more rounded. An industrial design that enchants and is reminiscent of the new iPad.

That is also accompanied by the latest generation M2 chip, which makes the new MacBook Air offer up to 18 hours of battery life and you don’t need to charge it during the day.

Another advantage of the design is that it is a model quite silent, even when it requires more work, such as editing graphics or videos. This is because Apple implemented advanced technology and the computer comes without a fan, making the MacBook Air do not make any noise.

Something that surprised me with gratitude is the new Magic Keyboard. I came from using a MacBook Pro from 2017, and although I liked its keyboard, many times it stuck or stopped working. Today, that seems fixed. We have a keyboard that has a good tour, a good touch and that has Touch IDto protect the computer and unlock it just by using your finger.

The only section I’m still not satisfied with is the FaceTime HD camera. Although it has undergone modifications, one hopes to have the same lenses used in the iPhone or iPad, but I have not yet found that it reaches that quality in the MacBook. The difference with the 2017 model is noticeable, but it is still a must, especially since during the pandemic, telematic meetings are here to stay.

A “Pro” screen with the characteristic notch of the iPhone

A section that I want to highlight is the screen of the new MacBook Air. A spectacular screen that reminds me a lot of the one we see on the iPhone, thanks to the characteristic notch that we can now find in this model. Honestly, everything looks spectacular in the 13.5-inch Liquid Retina display.

When editing videos, graphics or photos, the MacBook Air screen meets all those expectations, offering a P3 wide color gamut and supporting up to 1 billion colors for sharp, detailed images.

The other important thing regarding this new model is that the screen is much brighter compared to its predecessors. It is noticeable when one is writing or viewing some content with a lot of external light. Apple promises us that it is 25% brighter than before and that, when working in darker places, it allows an even lower brightness of 2 nits. I tested both scenarios and it works perfectly.

The “notch” It’s here to stay, also on MacBooks.

Conclusions

After reviewing each of its sections, the new MacBook Air offers great features and necessary to make the change from previous models. One of them is the autonomy that the device has, offering a full day of batterywhich allows you to fulfill the most demanding tasks without worrying that the computer is going to download.

Whether it’s for work, media, or play, the new MacBook Air will handle whatever needs come your way. Its performance is enviable once morest some of its competitors or even Apple’s own models that are on the market today, thanks to the M2 chip. In addition, along with its portability, we will have our office or workplace anywhere, especially in a world that is now used to the hybrid mode.

Today, thanks to all its improvements, the MacBook Air has become in the new rule for all notebook “ultra portables” that are in the same price range and with similar features.
