The NBA launches “The Tip-Off” to start the 2024-25 season

The NBA launched, on October 3, its “The Tip-Off” campaign to start the 2024-25 season. The spot, which is now available on the league’s social networks and on the NBA App, features the participation of stars such as Kawhi Leonard, two-time NBA champion, Anthony Edwards, Bam Adebayo, Luka Dončić, Jayson Tatum, current champion, and Victor Wembanyama, the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year, who compete to be the first to touch the ball and mark the beginning of a new season.

Accompanied by Van Halen’s iconic song “Jump,” the ad shows players, celebrities and fans rushing to center court in a stampede of excitement. Celebrities featured include GRAMMY® winner Kelly Rowland, screenwriter Drew Afualo and popular streamer Kai Cenat. Additionally, Denver Nuggets mascot Rocky has a prominent role, handing the ball to the referee for the first jump ball of the season. The spot captures the enthusiasm of the fans and the symbolism of the opening jump, a metaphor for the new beginning for the 30 teams that will fight for the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

The campaign, directed by Mike Warzin and produced in collaboration with Translation, will have a presence in advertising, digital, social and audio media. Fans will also be able to participate in NBA Jersey Day on October 21, sharing photos of their jerseys on social media for a chance to be featured on official NBA and team channels.

The regular season will begin on October 22 with a doubleheader on TNT. The Boston Celtics will host the New York Knicks, and the Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Los Angeles Lakers. Over the first five days, 11 games will be broadcast nationally as part of the Kia NBA Tip-Off 2024.
