The national team is ready to play the next World Cup final

Colombian full-back Daniel Muñoz said that the Colombian national team, runners-up at the Copa América in the United States, is ready to play in the 2026 World Cup final after proving that it can compete “on equal terms” with any rival.

“This team is ready to play in the next World Cup final, that’s what we’re going to aim for. First we have to qualify. We hope that we can qualify this year; we have six matches and if we play well we can practically qualify for the World Cup,” said the footballer at a press conference in Medellin, prior to a Nike autograph signing.

For Daniel Muñoz, once Colombia secures a place in the 2026 World Cup, it can “aim for the final.” And win it.

“We proved that we could reach a final and we did. Now we have to prove that we can reach a world final and that we can win it,” he added.

The English Crystal Palace player said that the final in Miami against Argentina was a “dream final.” “I dreamed of it, as did each of my teammates and all of Colombia.”

Speaking about his performance in the tournament, in which he scored two goals, Daniel Muñoz said he was satisfied. “We can compete head-to-head with any team, with any players. We have a lot of quality and talent,” he said.
