The National Ambulance Organizes First Regional Emergency Medical Services Conference 2023: Shaping the Future of EMS in the Middle East and Africa

The National Ambulance, affiliated with the National Guard, organized the First Regional Emergency Medical Services Conference 2023 in cooperation with the Educational Committee of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in the Middle East and Africa, and the Higher Colleges of Technology, in the presence of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chair of the Board of Directors. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan cultural and educational institutions, with the participation of a large number of doctors, specialists in the field of emergency medical care, and members and trainers from the Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.

The conference, hosted by the Higher Colleges of Technology – Dubai Women’s College, was an innovative platform aimed at shaping the future of emergency medical services in the UAE and the Middle East and Africa region, and participants had the opportunity to communicate and learn from experts and gain valuable insights into the latest trends in the field.

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan stressed, in her opening speech, that paramedic is not just a profession; Rather, it is a human condition that reflects the culture of society.

She said: “Our meeting today represents the first step with which we begin a new journey in which I see the Emirati youth as true champions in a field that needs them with all their ancient human and moral assets.”

In turn, Engineer Mohammed Salem Haboush, CEO of the National Ambulance, indicated that this participation reflects the keenness to contribute an active role in shaping the future of emergency medical care services.

Dr. Faisal Al-Ayyan, Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology Complex, stressed the importance of hosting the conference, the nature of which is in line with the colleges’ objectives and their interest in the field of health sciences in its various specializations, especially emergency medicine.

Professor Ahed Al-Najjar, Chairman of the Educational Committee of the American National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in the Middle East and Africa, and Director of Medical Education and Research at National Ambulance, described the event as a vital platform for developing the knowledge of its members.
