The National Airports Office responded to questions raised about the extent to which airlines operating in Morocco were affected by the disruptions caused by a global IT outage due to a Microsoft glitch.
In this context, a source from the office revealed in a press statement that “Royal Air Maroc and the low-cost airline Air Arabia were not affected by this problem, as they do not use Microsoft in their operations.”
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed that “this is what is known so far,” noting that “expectations are that the situation will develop during the rest of Friday.”
In contrast, the same official noted that a number of international airlines operating in Morocco expressed their dissatisfaction with this disruption, confirming that they were affected by it, including “Ryanair”, “TuiFly” and “Tansavia”.
The National Airports Office (ONDA) advises travelers to contact the airline with which the flight was booked to obtain their transportation details.
As the technical glitch paralyzed computer systems around the world on Friday, the National Airports Office said it “expects a escalating impact of halting much of the country’s airports.”
It is worth noting that a global technical failure caused the disruption of international airlines, banks and media outlets on Friday.
The global technical glitch affected operations in various countries including Spanish airports, Turkish Airlines, Australian media outlets and banks.
This comes after Microsoft announced a glitch in its global public system, while cybersecurity company Crowdstrike is facing a technical glitch in its services around the world.
