The Mythology of the Solar System Seen by a Star Shower

The small popular university REV (Reflections, Exchanges in Verniolle) and the Association for the safeguard and development of the Château de Fiches give the floor to Jean-Noël Sarrail for a conference entitled: “Mythology of the solar system”, on Wednesday October 19 at 8:30 p.m. at the Château de Fiches.

Jean-Noël Sarrail, whom we were able to meet at the Ariège Authors’ Fair last January, will tell the story of the solar system in his own way. He will answer many questions: “Why does the planet Venus bear the name of the goddess of beauty? Why Mars bears that of the god of war? Where do the names of the planets in Greco-Roman mythology come from? ?” Along the way, he will show us many works of art and has a few surprises in store for us.

Once again, REV wants us to dream with a speaker with an unusual profile. Jean-Noël Sarrail grew up at the foot of the Pyrenees, in Mirepoix, where he discovered music, singing and the stars at a very young age, passions that would never leave him. As a teenager, he composed songs and set up a rock band, then entered the Toulouse Conservatory. He also obtained a university degree in astrophysics at the Faculty of Paris and a Capes in music education.

Which career to choose? Astronomy or music? He didn’t choose. On the one hand, he has composed music, released several albums including the book-CD “Draw me a sheep!”, a setting to songs of Saint-Exupéry’s Little Prince, and teaches piano at the University of Toulouse. ; on the other, he is vice-president of the Sabarat observatory, well known to friends of Fiches, lectures and has written “50 activities to discover astronomy”.
