The mystery of the water that made the inhabitants of Hodeige sick solved: they drank bacteria of fecal origin

Deprived of mains water since Wednesday due to network pollution, the inhabitants of the village of Hodeige, in the Liège entity of Remicourt, will still have to wait at least 24 hours. The analyzes of the samples taken from the network have delivered their first results. Pollution is bacterial contamination linked to the presence of substances of faecal origin in the water. The pollution comes from a wastewater treatment plant of the Intercommunal Association for the demerger and purification of the municipalities of the province of Liège (AIDE) located in Oreye. “Our investigations have revealed that two non-return valves have malfunctioned. Dirty water has thus been pushed back into the drinking water distribution network”, said an AIDE official. Residents affected by this problem can obtain their drinking water cartons from the former municipal school in Hodeige. “The SWDE has rinsed the pipes. New samples have been taken. The results of the analyzes are expected on Friday”concludes the SWDE spokesperson.
