The woman with the tattooed flower, whose body was found at the bottom of a river in Antwerp, was a British woman who arrived in Belgium in 1992, Interpol announced on Tuesday. Aged 31 at the time of the events, Rita Roberts was able to be identified thanks to a “black flower tattooed on her left forearm, with green leaves and ‘R’Nick’ written below,” according to a press release from the international organization for police cooperation.

“A family member in the United Kingdom recognized the tattoo in the media and notified Interpol and the Belgian authorities, via the Identify Me web page,” explains the institution. Now, “the Belgian authorities are calling on the general public to clarify the circumstances of the death of Rita Roberts”. Testimonies and information can be sent by e-mail to avisderecherche@police.belgium.eu, by telephone to the free number 0800/30.300 for national calls and to 00322/554.44.88 for calls from abroad .
