Egyptologist Sophia Aziz said, in statements to the BBC, Science Focus, that: Egyptian pharaoh TutankhamunHe died due to a high speed rickshaw accident while under the influence of alcohol.

She said the king was like any teenager, driving the cart while he was drinking. She added that the carriage was involved in an accident that resulted in Tutankhamun suffering serious leg fractures, which later caused an infection, and then his death.

The statements of the Egyptian scientist sparked great controversy and increased the state of uncertainty regarding the death of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, and pushed the mystery to the fore once more.

Magdy Shaker, chief archaeologist at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, responded to what the Egyptian scientist said, and said that such a hypothesis that you are talking regarding has no evidence for it.

He said in statements to Al-Arabiya.net that the death of the Egyptian king is still confusing. It is known that wines at the time of the Pharaohs, specifically during the reign of King Tutankhamun, were made from dates, bread and barley, such as beer, or from dried wine that they imported from the Levant. He added that alcohol was not used specifically at that time, and therefore these manufactured wines were not intoxicating or brought their users to a state of intoxication.

He says that other hypotheses mentioned that the death of the king was caused by the killing of the king by “Horemheb” and “Ay”, two of the senior army commanders and priests, and another opinion said that those around him wanted to get rid of him, indicating that so far it has not been proven and there is no Conclusive evidence regarding the cause of his death, especially since he died following being injured, and it was said that he died of poisoning or gangrene, and these are jurisprudences and hypotheses that have not been confirmed until now.

The Egyptian official revealed that the king, that is, who assumed power following Tutankhamun, did not mention the cause of death, adding that until now the discoveries are still appearing and successive, and any papyrus may appear in the future that reveals to us the cause of the death of the famous king of Egypt.

Shaker added that the discovered artifacts of Tutankhamun amount to 5,600, and not a single papyrus was found in them, which increased the continuation of the mystery around the story, which increased its ambiguity, stressing that the period of Tutankhamun’s rule was very difficult, and there were disturbances and problems in addition to that he He was a young man of 19 years old.

It is reported that in 2010 a group of Egyptologists examined x-rays of the mummy of the young pharaoh to better understand the cause of his death.

The examination revealed that the king, who was only 19 years old when he died, not only had malaria, but was also suffering from multiple health disorders at the time of his death.

Previous studies claimed that Tutankhamun needed a walking stick because he had painful Kohler’s disease, in addition to deformities in his feet.

It is noteworthy that the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922, and the tomb revealed puzzling evidence regarding a child who became pharaoh in 1336 BC, when he was only nine years old, before he died suddenly at the age of nineteen.

His tomb gained wide fame following its discovery, because his body remained untouched for nearly 30 centuries following his death, and the tomb was not looted by grave robbers like most of the tombs of other pharaohs.
