Navalny’s mother asks Putin via video to hand over the body

Charp, 02/20/24: O-TON Lyudmila Navalnaya “I am turning to you, Vladimir Putin. The decision of the question depends only on you. Let me finally see my son.” The mother of Kremlin opponent Alexey Navalny, who died in custody, has been looking for her son in the polar region for five days. Now she addresses President Vladimir Putin directly in a video message. She is standing in front of the “Polar Wolf” prison camp and has been waiting for the fifth day to be able to see her son, says Lyudmila Navalnaya in the video message published on Tuesday. “I demand that Alexei’s body be returned immediately so that I can bury him in a humane manner,” she says. She has not yet received the body nor has she been told where the body will be kept. According to Russian authorities, Navalny, who was physically weakened following many days in repeated solitary confinement, collapsed in freezing temperatures on Friday during a walk in the prison camp in the polar region. According to the prison service, attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

Alexei Navalny’s body is still under lock and key, fueling speculation regarding the cause of death. Meanwhile, plans for a spectacular liberation operation by the opposition activists became public.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • After the death of Alexei Navalny, there are reports of an alleged planned operation to free the Kremlin opponent.
  • Paramilitaries wanted to bring Navalny to Ukraine.
  • There is also a new theory regarding the cause of death: evidence suggests an old KGB method in which a single blow to the heart is enough to kill a person

Did Alexei Navalny really die from a handshake to the heart? Should he really have been freed by a resistance group? And what is “sudden death syndrome” all regarding?

Since the death of the Kremlin critic, new inconsistencies have come to light every day. The Kremlin is not entirely innocent of the fact that there are numerous rumors in the world. Navalny’s body is still being kept under lock and key by the authorities. Although his mother has sued for the publication, the responsible court does not want to hear the matter in camera until March 5th.

Old KGB method as cause of death?

The cause of death therefore remains the subject of speculation. His mother was officially informed that Alexei Navalny had died of “sudden death syndrome”. However, this is a very vague medical term. While Yulia Navalnaya, the opposition activist’s widow, believes that her husband was killed with the nerve agent Novichok, Russian human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin believes in a different method used by KGB special forces.

Osechkin, founder of the human rights organization “gulagu.net”, assumes, citing a source from Navalny’s penal colony “Polar Wolf”, that Navalny was killed with a single blow to the heart. This method, he said in the British Times, is a hallmark of Putin’s secret service because it leaves hardly any traces.

“They trained their agents to kill a man with a blow to the heart, to the middle of the body.” In order to weaken his body, Nawlany was previously forced to stay outside for more than two hours at temperatures of minus 27 degrees.

“I think that they first destroyed his body by leaving him in the cold for a long time and reducing the blood circulation to a minimum,” Osechkin said. “Then it is very easy to kill someone within seconds if the perpetrator has experience.” Former prisoners who had served their sentences in the Arctic had previously told him regarding this practice, said Osechkin.

Plan to free Navalny failed

It almost didn’t get that far: the ultranationalist resistance group “Russian Volunteer Corps” (RDK) had apparently planned to free Navalny with a spectacular coup. RDK published corresponding plans on the “telegra.ph” platform, which were picked up by several media outlets, including the German “Bild”.

Accordingly, Alexei Navalny should probably be freed during the transport to the Arctic prison camp “Polarwolf” and brought to Ukraine. However, the plan failed because the Russian authorities and secret services had made appropriate preparations.

“The date and time of the transfer (to the prison camp) were postponed several times,” writes RDK. Ultimately, a verbal instruction was given at short notice, meaning that they were no longer able to get to the operational area in time. At the time of Navalny’s death, they were in the process of developing a new plan.

Anti-Putin group publishes photos from prison camp

The article also contains photos of Navalny from the previous prison camp, documents and a map of the site. However, the extent to which the information in the blog actually comes from the RDK cannot be independently verified.

The RDK has been fighting with the Ukrainian army once morest Russia for months. The goal of the paramilitary organization, founded in 2022 by right-wing extremist Dennis Nikotin, is to fragment the Russian Federation in order to create a separate state only for ethnic Russians.

Alexei Navalny died in custody in a Siberian camp last week. So far we can only speculate regarding the cause of death.
