A Scottish village is grappling with a disturbing clown who is terrorizing the population and taunting the local police, various British media report.
The municipality of Skelmorlie, located regarding fifty from Edinburgh, recently saw the appearance of a sinister character disguised in the style of Stephen King’s clown Pennywise.
The latter, who often holds a red balloon like the character in the book Itwanders the streets of the village and created a Facebook page in which he shares sad statuses.
In his description on Facebook, the man who calls himself Cole Deimos claims to be self-employed, having studied at the Clown Schoolthen at Hellgate High School. He was born in Hell, Michigan and his romantic situation was “complicated.”
In a video posted on October 11, the clown comments on the attention he is receiving from the media and responds to alleged Facebook comments in a voice altered to sound more sinister.
The residents of Skelmorlie, however, are not laughing.
“No matter who it is, he scares everyone. We have to stop him. Someone needs to talk to him before the police get involved or he actually terrifies someone. It might cause a real heart attack,” said a father to The Independent.
The outlet claims that local police are aware of the character and his disturbing videos, but have not received any incident reports.
In his video, the clown also claims to be aware that the police know him, but indicates that that does not worry him.
“You think that matters to me? They’ll have to catch me first, anyway. And yes, I challenge them to do it,” he proclaims.
The curious character claims not to be in search of fame, glory or fortune; he assures that he “only wants to play”.
“Come and learn to fear the Clown of Skelmorlie,” he says.
