The Mysterious Bunker Project of Mark Zuckerberg: Controversy and Intrigue

The ruler of Meta is currently erecting an estate which he presents as his family home. While we find billionaire infrastructures on the surface, a self-sufficient bunker takes place underground. The entire project is at the heart of controversy.

The media Wired investigated a very mysterious project undertaken by Mark Zuckerberg. Indeed, the director of Meta (Instagram, Facebook) is currently building a 160-hectare estate on the island of Kauai, in Hawaii. Mark Zuckerberg presents this estate as his new family home.

At first, we might say to ourselves that there is nothing very surprising for a billionaire. We thus find in this area: several swimming pools, a gym, a tennis court, two large manors, a network of 11 cabins connected by rope bridges, conference rooms, around thirty rooms and even saunas.

However, the pharaonic project has a particularity: an enormous bunker of 464 m². Accessible via two entrances, this bunker would be completely self-sufficient. The underground shelter would be able to supply electricity, while a cistern 17 meters high and 6 meters wide would provide the necessary water. Food would also be stored there to be able to live self-sufficiently for a certain time. Furthermore, on the surface, the land has agricultural and livestock areas.

We also find in this bunker: a large living space, a control center and armored doors. Furthermore, the entire area is enclosed by a five-foot wall and is peppered with cameras.

You will have understood, this bunker seems to have been built in the event of an apocalypse or large-scale war.

A controversial project

First of all, all employees who work on this extraordinary site would be subject to strict confidentiality restrictions. Revealing information on this subject would mean immediate dismissal. Several workers have already been fired.

A worker explains to Wired: “ It’s like Fight Club. We’re not talking regarding Fight Club », in reference to the film by David Fincher (1999). In short, real pressure would be put on employees to keep the project secret.

Then, from an ecological point of view, this project raises a lot of concern. For some, the construction of the estate has an inevitable and profound impact on the ecosystem of the island of Kauai (Hawaii). The local population would be disturbed by the comings and goings of the machines and the various noise pollution.

A former employee of the site also explains: “it’s crazy that a man who isn’t from Hawaii would come here and buy a bunch of land that restricts locals from buying land ».

Mark Zuckerberg is also suspected of having exercised his influence at a political level. Kauai County Council member Billy DeCosta said:that Mark Zuckerberg had a strategic plan to get all the big fish on his side».

In total, the Meta leader’s project would have cost $270 million. This figure includes the acquisition of land and works.

In any case, the construction of Mark Zuckerberg’s bunker directly echoes the film The World After Us (Sam Esmail), recently released on Netflix.
