The Music Authority launches the “Arab Jazz Festival” at Dhahran Expo

The Music Authority launched the “Arab Jazz Music Festival”, which will last for two days at the “Dhahran Expo” in Dammam, during which it will host a selection of the best jazz artists and composers from the Middle East and Europe.
The activities of the first day of the festival began with the participation of the “Music” band, which presented a group of musical pieces from Arab folklore mixed with the style of jazz playing, including: “Fouk Elna Khalil” and “Bint Al-Shalabia”, in addition to pieces written by the band, namely: “How I thought”. Osama, and Reem.
Then the Bahraini band “Majaz” participated in a group of musical pieces borrowed from different world cultures following adding the spirit of playing and oriental identity to them.
The audience interacted with the Egyptian oud player Mohamed Abu Zakri, who was considered the best oud player in the Arab world in 2009, in addition to his classification as the youngest oud coach when he was fifteen years old.
The first night of the festival concluded with the participation of the Lebanese artist, Rabih Abu Khalil, who is considered one of the most famous revamps of jazz music, in addition to his reputation for explaining his songs in a funny way that attracts the audience, following which he presents the piece in an impressive way to take them deep in his musical world.
Abu Khalil, accompanied by his band consisting of foreign musicians, one American on percussion and the other on the Polish cello instrument, presented pieces that carried many sentimental feelings, including the song “Piece of Love”, which dealt with the feelings of the emptiness of loved ones and the pain and heartbreak that it causes. Then he moved to a piece in which he expressed his feelings following he His mother passed away.
It is worth mentioning that the Arab Jazz Festival, which is being held for the first time in the Kingdom, is organized by the Music Authority, to celebrate jazz, and to emphasize the role and importance of the oud in this type of arts, in addition to promoting national talents by allowing them to participate in such creative music festivals. .
