It is the police in Innlandet that informs regarding the status of the case of the murder of 44-year-old Spildrejordet in Nord-Odal on 14 March. A 54-year-old man was arrested on 10 April and charged with murder or complicity in murder. The police write that the suspicion once morest the man has been strengthened.
The police will request the man be remanded in custody for another four weeks when the imprisonment ends on 29 July. The reason is the risk that evidence in the case will be lost.
– The accused man in his 50s living in Sør-Odal has not wanted to be questioned since 11 April and has justified this by saying that he wants to read the case documents first, says police attorney Christine Lundstein in the Innlandet police district. She adds that the accused would also not allow himself to be questioned following being given access to the investigation.
Denies conflict
The police attorney informs NTB that there was a relationship between the accused and Spildrejordet.
– There was a prior conflict between them, but the relevance of that conflict is not entirely clear and obvious. It is some of the information that the accused himself is sitting on, sir Lundstein.
The accused denies criminal guilt and has requested to be released in all prison meetings since his arrest. The man is defended by lawyer John Christian Elden.
– He has no information regarding any conflict between them and has not acknowledged any murder, so I assume that the police investigate widely, Elden tells NTB.
Multiple gunshot wounds
The investigation is coming to an end, write the police, who aim to submit a recommendation for indictment to the state attorney during the autumn.
– The police recently received the final autopsy report. It shows that Spildrejorde died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, the police write and state that the weapon must be a .22 caliber pistol.
Spildrejorde was found shot in a holiday home in Nord-Odal late in the evening on 14 March. The brother was in the same place when the murder happened.
The brother saw man
The police therefore initially charged the brother, but he was released following the suspicion was weakened. The charge has been upheld, but will be reassessed before the question of indictment, writes Lundstein.
– The brother has explained himself in detail in several interviews and given a good description of what he has seen. He is said to have been in the cottage’s upper floor when the shots were fired, while the deceased was found in the kitchen on the first floor. The brother has explained that he ran down and saw a man who left the cabin following a short time, says Lundstein.
