The chairman of Lääneranna municipal council, attorney-at-law Armand Reinmaa, offered the local society the right to use the Virtsu school building free of charge if the parents leave the court.

“The offer was relatively conditional,” Triin Raave, member of the board of Virtsu Rahva Maja MTÜ, confirmed to Lääne Elu. The correspondence between Reinmaa and the society ended with the proposal of the chairman of the municipal council that the society should turn to the Läänerantna municipal council in order to get the right to use the Virtsu school building free of charge for 50 years.

Reinmaa noted that the NGO includes people who go to court with the municipality and suggested that they consider closing the case, because otherwise not all commissioners might raise their hands in favor of granting the right of use for free.

Until then, local residents knew that the building was planned to be emptied and sold. “There were rumors that there is a buyer for the house and it will become a retirement home,” said Henrik Raave, a member of Virtsu Rahva Maja NGO. “I don’t know if there was a buyer or if he dropped out, but in October we were advised to make an application to the municipal council to rent the house with building rights.”
