This first Sunday in September, the Music Band of the Musical Association ‘Friends of Music’ of Almodóvar del Campo delighted the public with a new edition of the traditional Summer Concert.
Under the direction of Luis Fernando Valiente Escobar and the assistant direction of Ángel González Ormeño, the band presented a varied program that combined pasodobles, overtures and classical pieces adapted for band.
The event began at around 9.30pm in the Municipal Garden, in front of a large audience and with the presence of members of the Municipal Corporation, with all attendees enjoying the carefully selected music.
The programme performed throughout the evening included, among others, the pasodobles ‘Agüero’ by José Franco; ‘Morenito de Valencia’ by Vicente Portoles; ‘Chiclanera’ by Vega, Oropesa and Carmona; and ‘Dunia Piris’, by Rafael Talens.
The band also performed J. Offenbach’s ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ Overture and a selection of soundtracks entitled ‘A Disney Spectacular’ by John Moss, featuring various much-loved pieces, as well as the tango ‘Por una cabeza’ by Carlos Gardel.
The Councillor for Culture, Virginia López, expressed her gratitude to the band for the recital and celebrated the possibility of “enjoying a night of music in the open air and in such an emblematic setting as our Municipal Garden”.
