On Saturday, Frenchwoman Justine Trier won the Palme d’Or for her film “Anatomie d’une chute”, becoming the third female director to receive this highest award in the history of the Cannes Film Festival.
With this victory, Justine Trier, 44, succeeds New Zealand director Jane Campion “The Piano” (1993) and French Julia Decurneau “Titan” (2021), confirming the slow movement towards gender equality in the cinema sector, which has traditionally been dominated by men.
