The WhatsApp application was launched in 2009, and it was bought by Meta (then known as Facebook) for $ 19 billion in 2014, but the application continues to add new features, for example, the ability to use WhatsApp on multiple phones was added in April 2023, In response to users’ request, high-resolution images were added in August 2023.

Here are some of the best new WhatsApp tools and settings that you may not be aware of – from privacy-enhancing tips to functions like screen sharing.

Send photos in high quality

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg showed off a new high-resolution photo feature on his Facebook account, and it’s now available on both Android and iOS.

Zuckerberg said, “You can now send photos in high resolution on WhatsApp.”

And you can use the function with both new and existing photos: select a photo, then select the “HD” option in the editing tools at the top of the screen.

Your image will arrive at a resolution of 3072 x 4080, compared to the previous compressed resolution of 1536 x 2040 used by WhatsApp.

Use WhatsApp on two or more phones

You can run the WhatsApp application on two phones simultaneously, thanks to the latest update, all you have to do is connect the second device to the first device.

WhatsApp wrote earlier this year that linking phones as companion devices makes messaging easier. You can now switch between phones without logging out and pick up your conversations where you left off, or if you’re a small business owner, additional employees can now reply to customers directly from their phones under the same WhatsApp Business account.

Companion mode, unveiled this year, allows you to link up to four additional devices to your account, including tablets and phones.

Incognito mode on WhatsApp

It’s not widely known, but incognito mode allows you to hide whether you’re online or not, or choose who can see if you’re online.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed the tool in a 2022 update, and Zuckerberg said the tool was designed to keep WhatsApp chat, “as private and secure as face-to-face conversations.”

Screen sharing

Screen sharing used to be limited to more “professional” apps like Teams, but now you can show what’s on your screen using WhatsApp.

Simply open the app, start a video call with a contact, and tap the screen sharing icon at the bottom of the screen.

“Casual chat” is the disappearance of messages hours or days following they were sent

If you’re worried regarding messages being used once morest you, or you’d just rather delete your internet history, you can set a timer so that messages disappear hours or days following they’re sent.

Find out which chats take up the most space

We all have “those” chats where people tend to send spam photos and videos every five minutes – but did you know you can tell which ones take up the most space?

To find out, go to Settings > Storage & data > Manage storage, and you can see a list of your conversations that take up the most room.

Search all your chats at once

If you know someone sent you some info, but you can’t remember who or what conversation they were in, you can search all of your messages at once.
