Burger lovers have something to rejoice if they are feeling peckish during a getaway to Geneva. According to the home meal delivery company “Just Eat”, the cheapest burgers in the country are found in Geneva, at an average price of 9 francs. 60. However, it is quite different for pizzas. Fans of the traditional Italian dish must pay more than twice as much as for the famous American sandwich. The average price of a pizza is in fact 20 francs. 29. The cantons of Vaud and Friborg complete the French-speaking podium, at prices of 19 francs. 59 and 18 fr. 89 respectively for a pizza.

However, the statistics must be put into perspective. “There are a lot of burger chains in Geneva, which is driving prices down drastically,” explains Séverine Linda Götz, communications manager at “Just Eat”. And to clarify: “A burger in a classic restaurant costs much more than the one offered at McDonald’s, Five Guys or Burger King.” This is why the Palme d’Or for the most expensive burger goes to the canton of Valais: the sandwich costs on average 19 francs. 70.
