Since I successfully immigrated to Taiwan, the most common question asked by people is, is there any way to immigrate to Taiwan? Today I will share my own approach to immigrating and the methods I often see among my friends immigrating to Taiwan for your reference! This article will mainly explain three immigration methods, among whichDependency and study immigration are cheaper immigration methods.and quite a fewInvestment immigration has an entry threshold for assets.plus many applicants will ask immigration companies to help prepare, so the cost will be higher.

Hong Kong people can also immigrate through relatives, such as by marrying a Taiwanese spouse or through kinship relationships (that is, if they have direct blood relatives or their spouse has a household registration in Taiwan, direct blood relatives refer to parents, children or grandparents, brothers and sisters are not counted) within) for immigration. This method is relatively more friendly to the people. You can apply for settlement after staying in Taiwan for one year at the earliest (you are not allowed to leave the country for 30 days within a year).

The dependent applicants I know all apply for immigration by themselves and do not need the help of an immigration company. Therefore, it can be said to be the easiest and fastest way to immigrate. However, not everyone can marry a Taiwanese or have direct relatives in Taiwan. , so the number of applicants will not be so large. Moreover, it is common for dependent immigrants to undergo a home visit during the settlement stage to determine the applicant’s family status. This part may not be available if you are applying for study immigration.

There are two types of study immigration clubs:HF168+HF171 and HF169 :

*The code starting with HF is the code for the applicant’s residence status

HF168+HF171 Obtain a Taiwanese college degree and work in Taiwan directly after graduation

This policy, first implemented in 2014, allows graduates to directly seek employment opportunities after graduation without leaving Taiwan. As long as you have worked with HF171 status for five years and the average monthly salary is twice the basic salary, you are eligible to apply for settlement. However, it is worth noting that the HF171 status alone cannot apply for settlement. It must be combined with the HF168 status, that is, the status of Hong Kong and Macao students who graduated from Taiwan, in order to meet the corresponding qualifications.

HF169 After graduation, return to Hong Kong to work for two years and return to Taiwan to live for one year.

This is a status established for Hong Kong and Macao students who return to Hong Kong or Macao after graduation and live for two years before returning to Taiwan. The application conditions are relatively loose, but the only difficulty is that they must work in Hong Kong or Macao for at least two years after graduation.

I know many applicants who have obtained immigration qualifications through these two methods. In the past, most of them wouldHF169 application,It can save a lot of time, but because many people are currently afraid that HF169 will be canceled at any time, they choose to stay in Taiwan directly after graduation.butHF169 is still the fastest way to complete immigration among the current study immigrants. Many people only need to come to Taiwan for two years to study for a master’s degree and return to Hong Kong for two years to work. After an additional four years, they can apply for a residence permit and return to Taiwan to live.

I applied in the form of HF169. Although there are currently no clear regulations on what I need to do when I return to Taiwan to stay, the cases where I successfully applied for settlement in the end are generally employed. Therefore, applicants should be mentally prepared to find a job in Taiwan. (I will write an article later to share how to find a job suitable for Hong Kong people in Taiwan). You must not leave the country for more than 30 days during the year of residence, or you must stay for two consecutive years, and the stay time should be more than 270 days each year before you can obtain “Settlement.” Certificate” and can apply for naturalization immediately.

I came to Taiwan through studying and immigrating, and I had a physical examination in Hong Kong (the physical examination fee was about $1,400 (HKD, the same as below), because it was during the epidemic when I applied, so it could only be done in Hong Kong and I had to find a lawyer to notarize the documents, and the notarization fee (about $1,000) to get the ID card, the cost of various application documents is actually less than $5,000 (including application for residence permit, health insurance card, application for entry and exit permit in Taiwan, replacement of residence permit and ID card, etc.)

Hong Kong people mainly rely on “investment immigration” to immigrate to Taiwan, requiring a local investment of at least NT$6 million, equivalent to approximately HK$1.5 million. In recent years, the operation of “investment immigration” has also been subject to some restrictions. The current policy requires applicants to clearly indicate the industry in which they operate in Taiwan, and they also need to provide strong proof of funding sources. These measures are designed to ensure that investors’ funds are legal and compliant, while making a substantial contribution to Taiwan’s economy.

Things to note when applying for investment immigration

  • Minimum investment amount: Applicants need to invest at least NT$6 million to open a company in Taiwan, equivalent to approximately HK$1.5 million.

  • Business details: The operating details of the investment company need to be clearly stated to the relevant authorities.

  • Proof of source of funds: Applicants must provide sufficient proof of fund sources to ensure that the funds are legal and compliant.

  • Company operation period: The invested company must operate for at least three years, during which time it will hire two Taiwanese full-time employees and entrust a qualified accountant to conduct an audit.

  • Revenue Forecast: When filling in the revenue budget, a reasonable forecast should be made to avoid excessive discrepancies with actual operating revenue, which may lead to doubts during random inspections at future investment review meetings.

  • Salary standard: If you operate in the catering industry, the monthly salary of each full-time employee is generally about NT$24,000 to NT$30,000 (approximately HK$6,000 to HK$7,500), while Taiwan’s minimum wage is NT$27,470 per month and NT$183 per hour (this is the regulation for 2024).

  • Business type requirements:

  • Immigration Supervisor: After obtaining the residence permit, you need to live in Taiwan for one year and not leave the country for more than 30 days in one year, or live in Taiwan for two consecutive years and the stay time should be more than 270 days per year before you can obtain the “Residence Permit” and you can apply for naturalization immediately.

  • As for the investment immigration application cases I know, in the past two years, there have been quite a few people who have had their settlement qualifications deferred due to the need for “additional supervision.” There are also many people who immigrated to the UK for the second time. Therefore, it is recommended that applicants prepare to come to Taiwan. At this time, you really need to consider whether the company you invest in can make a profit and operate for at least three years. People who are just for immigration and settlement are not encouraged to apply for investment immigration!

In the future, I will continue to share with you more about the life of Hong Kong people in Taiwan, as well as their daily life of immigration, job hunting, etc.
