Our readers sent us more than 160 photos under the motto “Let your soul wander in the forest” – impressive and colorful images of forests, trees and moments captured on camera. A total of 164 photos were uploaded to the tree voting on nachrichten.at and more than 10,000 votes were cast. The winning photo comes from Andrea Brandstetter-Aichhorn from Gallneukirchen, who won with her photo “In the forest on the Feldaist” and can look forward to a voucher for an overnight stay for two people at the Baumhotel in Kopfing as the main prize. “Great, I’m very happy,” the lucky winner wrote to us.

The photos from our readers show from different perspectives how diverse the forest habitat can be – from autumnal magic, favorite trees and places, play of colors, sunsets in the forest to unique views. But it’s best to take a look for yourself, we’ll show you a small selection of the most beautiful readers’ photos – including the three winning photos – on these pages; you can find all the photos on the Internet nachrichten.at/wald

The forest series continues in spring

This participation and the pictures also show how important the topic of forests is for the people in Upper Austria. Last but not least, it is a large part of our homeland, which, as we have already seen in several parts of the series, needs to be protected and preserved for future generations. Not just because of climate change, but because it is also an important recreational area – for people as well as animals. Due to the great success and the numerous feedback from our readers, we will continue the forest series after November 18th and a short winter break in the spring and will illuminate the forest and the trees from other perspectives and explain the background and interesting facts, including ethical questions of forest use, or introduce the largest forest owners in Upper Austria.
