Resident of the Maximois for a little over a year, boulevard Frédéric-Mistral at the Domaine de La Nartelle, Matthieu Leroy lives a real nightmare every day from 3 p.m. And this, because of a tiny beast: the mosquito.
Those that are also called the culicidae invite themselves in large numbers from mid-afternoon until late evening.
“No answer”
“It became a real hell, I counted on my body up to thirty bites in a fairly short time. The consequence is that we are forced to live cloistered inside and we dine in our house because it is no longer livable, unless you are dressed from head to toe.”
Matthieu Leroy informed the City of this situation, the Community of communes of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez as well as the Regional Health Agency (ARS).
“Unfortunately, I have not received any response to date. My goal is to warn about this proliferation of mosquitoes, because I remind you that the latter is the animal that causes the most deaths and also the most diseases (dengue fever, malaria, chikungunya) on our planet, adds the Maximois.
There are many alternatives, not all of them effective and electric terminals remain the best solution. “But this has a cost, it takes more than 1,300 euros for the installation of a single terminal”, says Matthew.
His house borders the Antiboule stream, which as you can imagine is currently dry. “Despite everything, there are still very small points where the water stagnates and stagnates, these places are conducive to spawning”, he continues.
Campaigns?
We went to the banks of the Antiboule and it only took a few seconds before we were bitten by several mosquitoes while we had painted ourselves with repellent. No doubt, the attackers were there…
Mayor Vincent Morisse would have broached the subject during neighborhood meetings. Mosquito control campaigns are planned, without knowing the exact dates.
Matthieu Leroy just hopes that his call will be heard in order to be able to live the end of summer days, on his terrace and in a serene way.
