The Moroccan Disway regains full control of its subsidiary in Tunisia, by buying the shares of Amethis

(Ecofin Agency) – Having become a shareholder of Disway Tunisia in 2018, following taking over the management of Capital North Africa Venture II, the investment fund focused on North Africa, Amethis announces its exit and the sale of its shares to Disway SA.

Amethis, a private equity fund manager focused on high-growth African small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), announced on Monday January 23 its exit from the capital of the wholesale distributor of computer equipment, Disway Tunisie. This exit resulted in the sale of all Amethis shares to Disway SA, the majority shareholder and parent company of Disway Tunisia. The Moroccan Disway SA thus becomes the 100% owner of the shares of its subsidiary Disway Tunisia.

« We are pleased with this new achievement for Amethis in the region […] Disway Tunisia is now well established in its market and offers a varied offer with innovative solutions for its customers. said Adnane Zerhouni, Amethis partner covering North Africa.

This exit from Amethis comes five years following its entry into the capital of Disway Tunisia. It was by taking over the management of the Capital North Africa Venture II (Cnav II) fund in May 2018 that Amethis became a shareholder of Disway Tunisia. The latter was one of the seven companies in the portfolio of Cnav II, which is a fund focused on financing SMEs in North Africa.

During its investment period, Amethis claims to have strengthened Disway’s position on the Tunisian market for the distribution of computer equipment. The company has become the second player in Tunisia in this field, underlines Hakim Belmaachi, chairman of the board of Disway.

Beyond this sale, Disway Tunisia represents above all the second divestment of Amethis in the space of three months. The company, which claims around $1 billion in assets under management, had already completed its exit from the capital of CIEL Finance at the end of December 2022.
