Al-Marsad newspaper – SPA: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority continued its efforts to confront smuggling attempts, as it managed to thwart two attempts to smuggle more than 8.3 million Captagon pills at the Jeddah Islamic Port, following they were found hidden in two consignments received to the Kingdom through the port.
first attempt
The authority explained that in the first attempt, a consignment of “onions” was received through the port, and when it was subject to customs procedures by examining it with security techniques and live means “sniffer dogs” 3,054,000 Captagon pills were found hidden inside the consignment, so that the seizures were hidden inside the onion fruits.
second try
She indicated that in the second attempt, the smuggling of 5,281,250 Captagon pills was thwarted, which were hidden in a consignment of “silicone barrels” that were brought into the Kingdom through the port.
The authority explained that following the seizure process was completed, coordination was carried out with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seizures inside the Kingdom, where, by God’s grace, they were arrested, and they numbered 3 people.
