Al-Marsad Newspaper – SPA: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority continued its efforts to confront smuggling attempts, as it managed at Al-Bathaa port to thwart two attempts to smuggle more than 27 kilograms of shabu, and 17,000 controlled banned pills, following they were found hidden in two trucks that came to the Kingdom. through the port.
The authority stated that when one of the trucks coming through Al-Bathaa port was subjected to customs procedures and inspected through security techniques and live means, “sniffer dogs”, that amount of “shabu” was found hidden inside the truck’s fire extinguisher.
She also added that, in the second attempt, she was able to thwart the smuggling of 17,000 pills following they were found hidden in separate parts of one of the trucks coming to the Kingdom through the port.
The authority added that following the completion of the two seizures of contraband, coordination was made with the General Directorate for Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items inside the Kingdom, and they were arrested, thanks to God.
The authority affirmed that it is continuing to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports, and stands in the way of smugglers’ attempts, in order to achieve one of its most important tasks, represented in the security and protection of society from these pests.
