Acall me “Moby Train”. This is the name of the monumental sculpture that the SNCB and the Train World museum dream of installing near the Van Praet bridge, on the roundregarding adjoining the Docks shopping centre. A project that has been in the works for a few years and that its promoters would like to see completed in 2026, for the centenary of the railway company, as indicated today in the DH. The main piece of this work of art, an iconic locomotive dating from 1954, the 5204, also known as “Gros Nez” in reference to its front face, which today lies dormant in one of the SNCB workshops. The realization of the Moby Train was entrusted to the author of comics and scenographer François Schuiten as well as to the French artist Pierre Matter, a sculptor specialized in the transformation of old industrial objects.
