The minute by minute of Lula Da Silva vs Jair Bolsonaro

Simone Tebet voted and was hopeful to be in the second round

The candidate of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), Simone Tebet, voted this morning in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, expressed his hope of being in the second round and criticized the polarization of the presidential elections that are being held today in the South American giant, with former President Luiz Lula da Silva and President Jair Bolsonaro as exclusive figures.

“Unfortunately, we saw that the ideological polarization contaminated the soul of the Brazilian people. Our candidacy proposed exactly taking the middle path, that is, with balance, with moderation, with dialogue, bringing proposals and real solutions to the real problems of Brazil”Tebet said, from the city of Campo Grande, where he cast his vote.

The latest Datafolha survey places the MDB candidate, former president Michel Temer’s party, in third place in voting intentions. Tebet was hopeful of reaching a second round.

“Poll results will only be determined when the last voter casts their ballot, so here too is my hope of being in the second round,” he added, local daily G1 reported. Tebet said he felt happy because days like these strengthen democracy.

“It is the people in the street, legitimately, electing their candidate, who will represent them not only as candidates and future presidents, but also as senators, deputies and governors (?) Despite all the mishaps and violence, today ends a cycle. We are ready to accept the result of the polls,” he said.

Tebet is also backed by the Brazilian Social Democracy Party, of former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Sectors of the Workers’ Party, which has Lula as a candidate, trust that Tebet will support him in a possible second round.
